Together, we strengthen voices across the Midwest—one story, one connection at a time
Healed communities are creative communities.
At the Nebraska Writers Collective, we believe that writing helps us articulate the unsayable, and sharing those stories reminds us we are not alone.
In a world that often feels isolating, our programs offer vital spaces for connection and healing. As one student from the All Writes Reserved Youth Spoken Word Festival shared, “Other people’s stories help me to share my own.” Through writing, we find community, understanding, and growth.
Our work is necessary. When community members ask for more workshops and events, we know they’re really asking for connection and a place to be heard. In response to our community’s calls, we’ve expanded services to include virtual writing workshops (The Generator), a writing contest (Kate Sommer Memorial Poetry Prize), programmatic publications (NWC Press), and a writing cohort for artists living, working and creating in North Omaha (North Omaha Writers Workshop).
Now, we ask for your help in hiring a full-time Program Director to lead these efforts. Your support allows us to continue this essential work, empowering voices and building bonds across Nebraska and beyond.
Together, we can heal through words, creating a brighter, more connected future.
